Description
The Hen Micro Emerger Olive & Dun is a set of 3 hand-tied emerger flies, Made in Italy, specifically designed to imitate small mayflies trapped in the surface film. It’s the ideal solution when the most selective grayling refuse traditional dry flies and key in only on the struggling insect.
Technical features:
- Hook: barbless grub
- Available sizes: #16, #18, #20
- Body: minimal olive thread
- Wing and hackle: violet dun hen feather
- Flotation: deliberately reduced to stay low in the film
The distinctive feature is the controlled flotation: a single wing and a few hackle fibres keep the fly trapped in the film rather than fully emerging. The olive thread body faithfully reproduces the greenish tones of Baetis and other small mayflies present for most of the season.
When to use it: Overcast and cloudy days, hatch periods, waters rich in small mayflies. Ideal on rivers and streams with selective grayling, particularly in the Po area where the fish have seen it all and refuse well-floating flies.
Target species: Grayling, with excellent results also on difficult trout. Barbless hooks for responsible, regulation-compliant fly fishing.
