Technical features:
Tied on a barbless grub hook in sizes #16, #18 and #20, the fly features deliberately reduced floatation. The wing and hackle, taken from the tip of a prized violet dun hen feather, keep the fly low in the film rather than sitting above the surface. The minimalist body in pale yellow thread faithfully reproduces the small pale mayflies typical of summer evenings, when grayling feed on the most delicate, still partially emerging insects.

This fly performs best on running water, particularly on the Po Valley grayling of the Po river area and its tributaries.
